Beginning April 12, one of Grand Rapids main highways, I-196, will be widened from two lanes to three lanes in each direction. This project is called "The Fix on I-196. Although this construction will shut down a part of I-196 near downtown, downtown Grand Rapids is still open for business and is easily accessible. To avoid back-ups and delays, the alternate route of M-6 to northbound US-131 is recommended. Simply exit at Pearl Street (85B) to visit DeVos Place convention center and hotels, museums, restaurants, nightlife and everything else Grand Rapids has to offer.
