Art & Antiques— Grand Rapids is serious about art - as you'll see virtually anywhere you look downtown. In addition to galleries and museums, the city is awash with outdoor art. Explore our Sculptures & Historic Buildings and keep your eyes peeled for everything from an authentic Apollo space capsule to the 42-ton Alexander Calder sculpture that has come to symbolize our creative spirit.

Art Galleries

Grand Rapids is home to one of the nation's most influential colleges of art & design - so it's no wonder many local galleries specialize in West Michigan artists.

Art Museums

One museum is home to a permanent collection of 6,000 artworks. Another spotlights contemporary creativity - visual arts, music, literature, films and more. A third is likely to enlist your kids in creating their own art. And that's just downtown - wait until you see what awaits you in the outlying areas!

Antiques

Grand Rapids became the nation's premier furniture manufacturing city in the second half of the 19th century - so don't be surprised to stumble on some great furniture finds as you browse the area's antique stores. You're also like to find high-quality retro, Victorian, and primitive pieces at reasonable prices.

Entertainment

Grand Rapids offers the entertainment diversity of a much larger city - at much more affordable prices.

Performing Arts

Michigan's only professional ballet and opera companies. America's second largest community theatre. One of the nation's finest regional orchestras. Touring Broadway shows, uproarious improv comedy, cutting-edge performance art and more. Enjoy! Check out the Calendar of Events for schedules and ticket information.

Live Music

From local bands to touring superstars, from intimate clubs to large arenas, Grand Rapids has something to delight every ear. Check out performance schedules at local Arts Venues and see who's on stage at area Nightclubs.

Movie Theatres

Grand Rapids revolutionized the way people watch movies with the world's first 12-screen theatre and first 20-screen theatre. We still have more screens per capita than just about anyplace else - so the latest big-budget extravaganza or award-winning independent is always playing somewhere very near you.

Visual Arts

One of the world's finest art and horticulture collections. One of the nation's most influential colleges of art and design. One of the Midwest's most vibrant artistic communities. If you've got an eye for beauty, you're going to love Grand Rapids!
